Often, CBD enthusiasts wonder how much CBD is too much?

Well, the dosage varies from person to person. It depends on various factors such as Age, Gender, Weight, CBD company, Tolerance to CBD, amount of CBD present in the products, Health condition you are treating, etc. It requires a lot of experimentation to determine the correct dosage.

How much CBD to take?

CBD usually doesn’t have a dosage that fits all. Various studies suggest that CBD can be taken anywhere from 20 mg to 1500 mg. A study called, Safety and side effects of cannabidiol, a Cannabis sativa constituent, shows that high doses up to 1,500 mg/day of CBD are tolerated in humans.

The amount of dosage required for a certain health condition also varies. CBD products usually state the concentration of the compound on the bottles or package. For instance, if a CBD oil bottle says 125 mg cbd and 30 ml on the package, it means that 125 mg of CBD is present in the 30 ml bottle.

So you must calculate the amount of CBD present in one ml before consuming CBD oil. It can be done by calculating the concentration of CBD present divided by the size of the bottle. As per our example, CBD concentration per ml would be 125/30 = 4.16 mg.

If you are taking CBD for bowel disease, 2 to 3 ml of 125 mg concentration of CBD is sufficient.

If you have just started using CBD, it is advisable to begin with a smaller dose, say 25 mg, and increase the dosage every week once your body starts adapting to it. Various studies have proved that CBD doesn’t have any adverse side effects, making CBD safe to use for many health conditions.

Health conditions and CBD dosage

A study called, Cannabidiol as a Potential Treatment for Anxiety Disorders showed that CBD ranging from 300 to 600 mg reduces anxiety-related disorders.

According to the study published in the BMC palliative care journal, CBD dosage ranging from 50 mg to 600 mg per day had provided symptom relief in advanced cancer patients.

A study called Dosage Related Efficacy and Tolerability of Cannabidiol in Children With Treatment-Resistant Epileptic Encephalopathy showed that 10-12 mg CBD/kg/day had been well tolerated by children in the treatment of epilepsy.

A study called, A systematic review of cannabidiol dosing in clinical populations showed that 5mg/kg/day of CBD prevented the occurrence of graft-vs-host disease.

Conclusion

The effects CBD has differs from person to person. CBD Dosage required for a health condition is unique to each individual. Finding the right dosage involves a lot of experimentation, which is safe to do as CBD has a better side effect profile. Start with a low dosage and slowly increase the amount of CBD taken to find the right dosage.
